Did you know:
I used to be a 'professional subject' in psychological experiments.
The experiments were always weird because it was important that subjects have no idea what was being studied. This meant that they would often throw bizarre stuff into the mix.
I remember one experiment, which was as follows:
I was instructed to complete a series of complicated analytical puzzles, while holding a high-tension spring between my knees. Then the proctor of the experiment pretended that all of my answers on the computer were accidentally deleted. He asked me a couple of questions about how that made me feel. Then he said "oh, nevermind, here they are." I asked him if he enjoyed that part of the experiment and he said "absolutely not."
